Summary
The cave allegory is about a cave full of slaves that work all day or are chained up all day. They live their lifes looking at puppets on the wall that are being projected by the fire. The slaves spend live their whole life believing that the puppets are the real thing untill one day one slave broke aloose. He went to the sun glancing at it, causing his eyes pain he turned away not knowing he was looking in the face of reality. While out of the cave he was told that whatever he saw outside was reality. His whole life he and the rest of the slaves were believing that the puppets were the real stuff. One day this Philosopher king came back to the cave to tell all the others that hey those puppets arent real the real stuff is out side the cave! Thinking that he had gone crazy they killed him. Thats what happen when one pearson says they saw the truth they get killed. "It's like saying I looked into Jesu's eyes".(Scott Crawford)

What it takes to be a great philosopher. A great philosopher or leader would need to know geometry, astromony and geometry of plane surfaces. Music was also an imprtant part by harmony making the soul harmonies and keeping their soul woven fontcolor=blue>. Their are military advantages when a philosopher knows his math, anyone who studied geometry is infinitely quicker of apprehensions then one who has not.

Overview My interpertation of the book is that when you are younger you listen to what you parents believe in and you follow that. I think the slaves believed in the puppets because their parents did. As you get older its harder to be persuaded by a new way and you actually change. You tend to want to keep that same belief. The slaves just got used to what they saw everday and didnt have the courage to try to leave the cave except the Philosopher King. He went and found the truth the sun hurt his eyes because he wasn't use to reality. Soon his eyes adjusted and he learned more about reality outside the cave then within. This Philosopher King or this "new belief" came back to tell all the other "old beliefs" and they thought he was crazy. Typicall of todays society. The way Plato wrote this justice like this was un-thinkable. I would have never thought of it or even compared it with slaves in a cave. I enjoyaed the way it was written because it was challeng and mad me think.

"Better to be the poor servant of a poor master" This quote means that you would rather be un happy knowing the truth then beeing happy believing in a lie.Plato compares the Cave Allegory to justice by saying once you find the light"reality" you are a just pearson.
